Zoom: Setting passwords for previously scheduled meetings

Scenario/Use case:

This article contains instructions on how to enable passwords for meetings you have previously scheduled.  As of July 18, 2020, all Zoom meetings, including meetings that were scheduled prior to the recent password enforcement changes, will require passwords.

To see which of your meetings have no assigned passwords and to edit in the Zoom web portal (https://fnal.zoom.us)

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal [https://fnal.zoom.us/] and navigate to Upcoming Meetings to view a list of your scheduled meetings.
    A meeting with no password will have a red icon next to it:

          2. To add a password to the meeting, click on the meeting Topic to edit the meeting.

          3. At the bottom right of the meeting details window, click Edit this Meeting

           4. Next to “Meeting Password” field, the box next to Require a Meeting Password will be checked and a random password will be
                assigned. You can change the password if you like or leave as-is.

           5. Click Save button at the bottom of the screen.

             6. Click Copy the Invitation to copy the new link and re-send the meeting invitation with the new link:

              NOTE: Edits you make take affect for all instances of this meeting ID

 

 

To edit your meetings in the Zoom client (Portrait View)

  1. Select Meetings
  2. Select the meeting to edit
  3. Click on
  4. Click Edit

  5. The checkbox next to Require meeting password will be checked and a random password will be assigned. Change the password if you wish.

  6. Select the appropriate calendar from the list

  7. Click Save

    A meeting invitation will pop up. Be sure to re-send the meeting invitation with the new link. 

 

NOTE: Edits you make take affect for all instances of this meeting ID

       -Password changes
       - Video & Audio settings
       - Advanced options
       - Alternative Host settings

 

To edit your meetings in the Zoom client (Landscape View)

  1. Select Meetings
  2. Select the meeting to edit
  3. Click on Edit

A meeting invitation will pop up. Be sure to re-send the meeting invitation with the new link.
