How to Access DocDB using your personal certificate

 

Intended for:

DocDB users.

 


Scenario/Use case:

Access DocDB using your personal certificate.

 


Instructions:

1. Get your CILogon Silver CA certificate and import it into your browser.

    If you already have your certificate and have imported it into your browser, go to Step 2.
    To obtain a CILogon Silver CA certificate for Fermilab or your home institution, follow the instructions at KB0013239.

2.  Register in DocDB.
     NOTE: You must register for every instance of DocDB you use.

a.  Point your browser to https://xyz-docdbcert.fnal.gov/cgi-bin/cert/CertificateApplyForm, where "xyz" is your DocDB instance name (i.e., cd, mipp,  desspec, etc.)

OSG and DUNE users: point your browser to:

https://osg-docdbcert.opensciencegrid.org/cgi-bin/cert/CertificateApplyForm

or

https://docscert.dunescience.org/cgi-bin/cert/CertificateApplyForm



You will see a form similar to the one below:

 

b.  Enter your email address, the security group(s) you would like access to and any notes for your DocDB instance administrator that may be helpful to them in determining your access levels. (Hit Ctrl key to select more than one group.)

c.  Click Apply for access.

You will then see a screen similar to the one below, and an email will be sent to you and the DocDB instance administrator:

 

Once the DocDB instance administrator has reviewed your application, an email will be sent to you, confirming your membership in certain groups within DocDB. You may read, add or update documents as your security group permissions allow.  

Access to certain groups will require approval from a designated individual representing that group.
