- How to request a WordPress site.

- Where to find detailed documentation on how to use the Fermilab WordPress service.
Instructions:
How to request a WordPress site
To request a Fermilab WordPress site, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Service Desk web portal and fill out the Web Hosting Request form.
- Select “WordPress SaaS website” from the pull-down list and fill out the form accordingly.
URLs to access, manage and edit your WordPress site
You will receive an email after your site is created. Please use the following URLs to view, edit and manage your site. (NOTE: WordPress sites can only be edited and managed via a web browser.)
- To view your site, go to http://YOUR-WEBSITE.fnal.gov.
- To edit or manage your site, go to https://YOUR-WEBSITE.fnal.gov/ and click “log in” in the left navigation bar.
- If the theme you use does not have a “log in” menu option, or if you have disabled it, you can use this URL to directly access the administration area of your site: https://YOUR-WEBSITE.fnal.gov/wp-admin/. (NOTE: This URL can only be accessed within the Fermilab network or via VPN when you are offsite. When prompted to log in, please enter your Services Account username and password.)
Documentation
You can find more documentation on how to use the Fermilab WordPress service in the administration area of your site: https://YOUR-WEBSITE.fnal.gov/wp-admin/. To access it, click “Fermi WP SaaS” in the left navigation bar. The documentation includes:
- Links to all the published documentation for the WordPress SaaS offering, including the Plugin and Theme Governance document.
- How to use the sandbox site to test new plugins and themes.
- How to access Theme and Plugin Showcases and their purpose.
- How to add or remove users associated with your site, as well as how to assign Roles to these users.
- A link to the Service Desk as well as a display of pertinent information we will need to help you debug issues with your site.
- Links to wordpress.com pages on how to use the WordPress software.
Note:
- We do not provide documentation on how to use the WordPress software itself. Instead, we will point you to wordpress.com documentation.
- The documentation at https://YOUR-WEBSITE.fnal.gov/wp-admin/ will be updated on a regular basis. If you notice any issues with the documentation, please submit a Service Desk ticket.
