How to get a CILogon Silver CA certificate from the command line

Scenario/Use case:

This article provides instructions on how to get your CILogon Silver CA certificate from the command line. This certificate is primarily used to submit your grid jobs.

 


Instructions:

1. Execute the following commands as root:        

yum install fermilab-util_kx509        

2. If you have kerberos credentials and run "kx509", you should see output like this:

Authorizing ...... authorized

Fetching certificate ..... fetched

Storing certificate in /tmp/x509up_u3382

Your certificate is valid until: Thu Mar 8 13:28:34 2018

 

3. Your CILogon Silver CA certificate is stored in the standard location expected by grid tools.
