How to Clear Cookies in a Web Browser

 

Intended for:

Users who need to clear their browser cookies.

 


Scenario/Use case:

Clear cookies in a mobile/desktop browser for:

Android

iOS

Chrome

Firefox

Edge

Internet explorer

Opera

Safari

 


Instructions:

 

Mobile Browsers



Android

The steps to clear your cache, cookies and history may differ depending on the model of your Android device and your preferred browser. However, you should be able to clear your cache and data from your application management settings menu:

1. Go to Settings and choose Apps or Application Manager.

2. Swipe to the All tab.

3. In the list of installed apps, find and tap your web browser. Tap Clear Data and then Clear Cache.

4. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.



Chrome for Android

1. Open Chrome.

2. Tap the menu button in the top right corner (looks like three dots).

3. Tap Settings.

4. Tap Privacy and security.

 

 

5. Click Clear browsing data.

 

6. Select the correct Time range. Tap All to clear all cookies.

7. Make sure that "Cookies and Site data" and "Cached Images and Files" are selected.

8. Tap Clear Data.

 

9. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.

 

 

Safari for iOS

1. Open your Settings app.

2. Tap Safari.

3. Tap Clear History and Website Data. Click Confirm.

4. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.



Chrome for iOS

1. Tap Chrome menu > Settings.

2. Tap Privacy.

3. Tap Clear Browsing Data.

4. Choose the data type you want to clear.

5. Tap Clear Browsing Data.

6. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.

 

Desktop Browsers



Chrome

1. In the top right corner, click the menu icon (looks like three horizontal bars or three vertical dots), and click Settings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Scroll down and click Clear browsing data.

 

 

 

 

 

4. Select the correct Time range. To delete all cookies select All time.

6. Click CLEAR DATA.

7. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.



Firefox (Windows)

2. Go to "Privacy and Security." Under "Cookies and Site Data," click Clear Data.

4. Alternatively, you can click Manage Data and select the specific cookie you want to clear.

5. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.

 

 

Microsoft Edge

1. In the top right corner, click the three dots and select Hostory

 

2. Click the three dots once again and select Clear browsing data.

 

 

 

3. Only Cookies and saved website data needs to be selected.

4. Click Clear now.



Internet Explorer

1. Select Gear icon > Safety > Delete browsing history....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. In the "Delete Browsing History" pop-up window, select Cookies and website data.

3. Click Delete.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.

 

 

Opera

1. Click the menu that looks like:  

2. Scroll down and click Clear browsing data.

 



3. Another tab should open. Make sure at least Cookies and other site data is selected.

4. Click Clear .

Safari 8 and later

1. From the Safari menu, select Preferences.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Select Privacy, and then click Manage Website Data.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Search for a specific site or click Remove All.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Click Done.

5. Press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.
