FermiMail: Linux - How to configure Evolution Email for Linux (and MFA)

Intended for:

Linux Users who wish to check their email with the Evolution Email client either onsite or offsite.

Please Note: The Fermilab Service Desk does not support the Evolution Email client.

Scenario/Use case:

Use an Email Client rather than Outlook Web Services for both onsite and offsite email access.

Instructions:

1. Install the Evolution Email Client and Evolution Exchange Web Services for your Linux Distribution. This may require 'root' access. Please review your Linux Distributions package installation process. Evolution 3.22 or later is required.

2. Launch Evolution.

3. You may be greeted with a "New Account" wizard. If you are not, select Edit -> Accounts. We will Add a new Mail account. Fill in any information until you reach the Identity screen.

4. Fill out the Identity screen with your Email Address and Full Name. You should "uncheck" the "Look up mail server details" box.

Then select Next.

5. Multiple steps are required on the Receiving Email screen. Screenshots will be provided for critical steps:

6. Complete the setup wizard and perform your first sync. If this is working as expected, you should see a login window for Fermilab SSO.

Please Note: The initial sync may take up to an hour depending on the size of your mailbox and the complexity of your calendar.
