Zoom: Setting passwords for phone participants

Intended for:

Zoom meeting hosts that have participants who dial in by phone.

Scenario/Use case:

This article contains instructions on how to enable passwords for meetings in which there are phone participants. As of July 18, 2020, all Zoom meetings, including meetings that were scheduled prior to the recent password enforcement changes, will require passwords including a numeric password for people who dial in via phone. If you want to change your settings before that time, follow the instructions below.

Instructions:

1. Sign into the Zoom web portal.

2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.

3. Click the Meeting tab.

4. Enable Require a password for participants joining by phone setting:

Require password for participants joining by phone

The phone number password will be a numeric-only, Zoom-generated password that cannot be changed. The Zoom-generated invite will look something like this:

Once a participant dials into the meeting, they will be prompted to enter the phone-in password for that meeting.
