macOS Sonoma early adopter
Intended for:
Mac users who wish to be a member of the macOS Sonoma early adopter program before macOS Sonoma is certified for use at Fermilab.
Important information:
If you wish to be a member of the early adopter program:
- Be aware that not all applications or services have been tested. There may be some things that don't work or don't work as expected.
- Security baseline configurations have not yet been finalized. Some settings will be changed or locked as the process to finalize requirement settings is worked on.
- Verify that you aren't using any applications that may not work with Sonoma.
- Check with your group and/or department that the work you are doing won't be affected.
- Install released updates within one week.
Instructions:
To become a member of the early adopter program:
- Open a Service Desk request at https://servicedesk.fnal.gov to join the program.
- After your Mac has been upgraded to macOS Sonoma, you will be asked to provide feedback about any issues you encounter by ITD's Desktop Engineering Group.
- You may be required to install updated OS or application versions at the direction of Desktop Engineering. Updates may require reboots.
To upgrade to Sonoma:
- If running macOS Ventura, open System Settings, select General and then select Software Update.
- If running macOS Monterey, open System Preferences (macOS Monterey) and select Software Update.
- Select Upgrade from the banner announcing the availability of macOS Sonoma.
- Alternatively, you can upgrade by downloading the macOS Sonoma upgrade application from the Mac App Store
