How to find the MAC address on your Mac computer

 

Intended for:

Users who need to find the MAC address on their Mac computer.

 


Scenario/Use case:

This article details how to find the MAC address on your Mac computer.

 


Instructions:

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner.

2. Select System Settings...

3. Click Network.

4. Select Wi-Fi

4. Select Details... to the right of the connected wireless access point.

Your Mac computer's MAC address will be displayed.

Note:

If Private Wi-Fi address is enabled a generated address will be displayed

Private Wi-Fi Options:

When using Private Wi-Fi the hard coded address can be found in the System Information report 

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner.

2. Select About this Mac

3. Select More Info...

4 System Settings > General will be opened

5 Scroll down and select System Report

6. System Information window will be opened

7. Select the Network from the list on the left

8. Each network interface will be listed on the right near the top

9. Select the desired interface (i.e Wi-Fi)

10. Hard coded address will be displayed in the Ethernet section
