Intended for: Users who need to request for Fermilab primary accounts
Scenario/Use case:
This article provides instructions on how to request for Fermilab primary accounts.
There are three types of personnel who access Fermilab computers: employees, contract workers and visitors (which includes users.) Users who are not employed by Fermilab may have on-site or off-site access, and are considered visitors. Please read the section(s) below that apply to you.

Instructions:
On-site Employees
- Read the Fermilab Policy on Computing.
- Obtain a Fermilab ID during the New Employee Orientation. This includes putting information into FermiWorks.
- Your supervisor or a colleague may then fill out the Computing Username and Primary Accounts form for you:
- Log in to the Service Desk
- Fill out Computing Username & Primary Accounts form. This form is used to request any of the following:
- User name for all your computer accounts at the lab
- Fermilab Email account
- Kerberos Principal
- Services Account
- FermiWorks Account
Contractors
- The hiring manager fills out information in FermiWorks including an email address for the person being hired as a contractor.
- Read the Fermilab Policy on Computing.
- Your supervisor or a colleague may then fill out the request form for Computing Username and Primary Accounts:
- Log in to the Service Desk
- Fill out Computing Username & Primary Accounts form
Visitors
- Read the Fermilab Policy on Computing
- Apply for a computer account via this form (Note: The title of the form is “Request for Fermilab Visitor ID and computer accounts.” It means an ID number, not a physical badge.)
- If you have answered yes to the question about being on-site on the form, please visit the Users Office Onsite page at http://get-connected.fnal.gov/users/accounts/ for further instructions on obtaining a visitor ID badge.
- Specific details about your account request will be sent to you via email from the Service Desk.
